Did Marian, Dong tie the knot?

MANILA, Philippines—Could it be true that Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera got married secretly? I sent Dong a text message for the real score but at press time, he hasn’t replied.

If it’s true, there’s nothing wrong with that. Perhaps both of them just want to have a sense of security, especially when they are paired off with someone else.

Did they tie the knot or not?

Marian Rivera's Darna return for second season

Marian Rivera is very thankful to Regine Velasquez for the Songbird’s decision to accept a kontrabida role in Darna. She didn’t expect that someone of Regine’s stature would agree to do a kontrabida role. The songbird is playing the role of Electra, the Queen of the Planet Woman in the book 2 of Darna, which has remained a top-rating show for the Kapuso network.

Regine, however, has yet to report for taping and still has to do her pictorial since her costume as Electra is still being prepared.

Nevertheless, in the VTR shown at Darna’s presscon on Monday, Regine said she’s excited to work with Marian for the first time. Sobrang nag-workshop ako kina Glaiza (de Castro) and Pauleen (Luna) for my role,” joked Regine.

But it was not only Regine whom Marian thanked but all the other kontrabidas as well who are joining the new cast of Darna which will run until February of next year. She said that if not for these villains, the show would not be that good. With the writers of Darna teeming with ideas, it would not be far-fetched if more kontrabidas would come into Darna’s way.

Apart from Regine, set to play kontrabidas are Jackie Rice (demonyita), Rochelle Pangilinan (manananggal), Akihiro Sato (vampire) and Katrina Halili (Serpina).

Marian also revealed that her next soap for GMA 7 will reunite her with Dingdong Dantes. She is still unsure, however, if this project is going to be another Koreanovela adaptation of the one of the stories of the Endless Love series. But it’s definite that she and Dingdong will pair anew in a primetime series next year.

In his radio program at DZBB last Friday, German Moreno or Kuya Germs to most showbiz folks, was unable to hold back his emotion as he spoke about his sentiments over the refusal of Pia Arroyo-Magalona, the widow of Master Rapper Francis, to have Francis’ star enshrined at Walk of Fame. The rite was scheduled yesterday at Eastwood City where Francis and 29 other celebrities were feted in a red-carpet as they see their stars on the pavement of Eastwood City.

Kuya Germs said he was clueless as to the reason why Pia would not allow his star to be enshrined in Walk of Fame. “Francis was my anak-anakan, having one of the pioneer members of That’s Entertainment. He was so happy when I put his parents Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran in the Walk of Fame. And he even asked me when he is going to have his own star in the said place,” Kuya Germs said in the vernacular.

Since he alone decides whom to put in the Walk of Fame, Kuya Germs was advised that he ought to give Francis his star in Walk of Fame even without Pia’s consent but the Master Showman doesn’t want to do so, lest it might lead to more problems. He tried talking to Pia (he even got her cellphone number) but she wouldn’t take his calls. He likewise sent his secretary to Pia’s home but the answer they got was that she was not permitting it.

But Kuya Germs also would like to know the sentiments of other relatives of Francis, like her sisters, if they also forbid the inclusion of their brother in Walk of Fame.

Thirty celebrities are now a part of Walk of Fame in Eastwood City. They are Jolina Magdangal, Armida Siguion Reyna, KC Concepcion, Gabby Concepcion, Marky Cielo, John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Geronimo, Luis Gonzales, Isko Moreno, Janno Gibbs, Michael V, Christian Bautista, Jed Madella, Cherry Pie Picache, Jaclyn Jose, Dingdong Avanzado, Ricky Davao, Jackie Lou Blanco, Apo Hiking Society, Rico J. Puno, Hajji Alejandro, Rey Valera, Nonito Donaire, Jr., Ogie Alcasid, Niño Muhlach, Aiza Seguerra, Yul Servo, Jose Mari Chan and Basil Valdez.

If Pia would not really agree to have Francis’ star enshrined in the Walk of Fame, Kuya Germs have no other recourse but to take out his name from the original list of awardees.

PEP: Marian Rivera is in martial arts training for 'Darna'

MANILA, Philippines – Na-excite talaga si Marian Rivera nang sabihan siyang may "Jag Black Magic: The Denim Show" siyang gagawin as one of the endorsers, with Will Devaughn, of Jag's Anti Fit for their customized jeans.

'Tarot' with Trillo

Darna (2009 TV series)

Darna[1] is an upcoming Philippine television series developed by Alta Productions Group, based on Mars Ravelo's comic heroine with the same name. Darna is set to premiere and be broadcast in 2009 and to be shown on GMA Network. The show will be starred by Marian Rivera as the title role and it's alter-ego, Narda.

Pre-Production

The first TV series was aired last 2005 with Angel Locsin as the lead role which made her a big star. GMA Network confirms that the rights of Darna is still theirs along with Captain Barbell and Dyesebel. Last January 2008, it was announced that GMA Network decided to make another version of the show but this time, it will be along with Captain Barbell. But due to schedule conflicts of Richard Gutierrez, everything was shelved. Angel Locsin, the first TV Darna, has transferred to ABS-CBN, the rival station of GMA Network in 2007.

Production

GMA Network announced that the new styled Darna would be a mirror to Marian Rivera's personality, possibly featuring more comedy flavor into the drama plot. Rivera will also undergo mental and physical trainings.[2] Also, Galvante confirmed that Captain Barbell, another Mars Ravelo's creation, is going to be shown in the series.

Marian Rivera will be starting her fighting routines with a an expert on May 17, 2009. Unfortunately, it was postponed due to conflicts on schedule. She will also be soon trained on harness.

Casting

GMA Network, along with the Ravelo's copyright holders of the character, has unanimously chosen Marian Rivera as Darna. It was said by Wilma Galvante, the SVP for Entertainment TV, in an interview that the new Darna should be a real star because it is a prime role.[3] The Ravelo's said in an interview that Marian Rivera is the sexiest and most beautiful actress to play Darna. [4]

Two actors are considered for the role of the leading man. They were Mark Herras and Mark Anthony Fernandez but it was the latter who's more vibrant.

This is the first time that Marian and Dennis will be paired together in a lenten presentation.

The Lenten drama is, for APT Entertainment Inc., a vow (panata in local parlance) to produce a quality offering every year on the observance of the Holy Week.

The drama has Marian Rivera playing Hilda, a housewife quietly taking her abusive husband Aldo (Gardo Versoza).

Having just moved into a new community, Hilda slowly finds solace in the company of her kind neighbors: Lola Salve (Perla Bautista), an ailing old woman, and her grandson, Sonny (Dennis Trillo), a man whose intellectual faculty has not developed with his age.

While dealing with her daily woes as an abused wife, Hilda’s maternal instinct is kindled by her friendship with Sonny. She volunteers to take care of him whenever Lola Salve has to attend to her own personal errands.

But Hilda’s bond with Sonny is soon questioned by their morally uptight neighbors. Lola Salve becomes seriously ill and later dies. Sonny is now left with no one to take care of him. The neighborhood council decides to send Sonny to a local psychiatric facility, and his friendship with Hilda abruptly ends.

Sonny manages to escape the psychiatric facility and runs to Hilda. Torn between her duty to an abusive husband and her selfless devotion to a mentally retarded friend, she hesitantly allows Sonny to stay in her home. Aldo arrives accidentally and accuses Hilda of having an illicit affair with Sonny. Aldo relentlessly beats Hilda. The violence triggers Sonny’s memory of his own traumatic childhood, prompting him to stab and kill Aldo.

The tragedy, however, brings new hope for Hilda and Sonny. Now free from the clutches of her abusive husband, Hilda is given a new lease in life and renews her bond with Sonny who is ordered by the court to stay in a psychiatric facility. After flop, Marian and Dingdong get ‘uncoupled’

FINALLY, the controversial once-hot-but-now-in-decline love team of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will come to a close as their recent onscreen partnership, Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang, ends this Friday, the same time the whole nation celebrates Labor Day.

As reported earlier, it’s their last pairing, after being the “it” couple who headlined consistently topraters Marimar and Dyesebel. And what a way to end their relationship—with their latest onscreen pairing at the basement of the ratings. Relatively speaking, of course.

Now the real test would be Marian being the lone lead star in her next project with GMA. As reported on the top-rating prime-time news program 24 Oras over the weekend, she will be the new Darna. Of course, being the sexy heroine via a telefanstasya like Darna is her métier. People love her for being the fighting temptress.

Remember that Angel Locsin became major following a string of telefantasyas, including a stint as Darna. Suddenly, she’s the babe that every boy-lesbian-man fantasized about. Even rock band Kamikazee composed an eponymous hit dedicated to Darna, which propelled them to where they are now. And they never composed anything that could equal that song.

Now with Marimar-turned-Dyesebel-turned-Babaeng Hinugot in the quagmire, as Darna Marian Rivera will again rule our world. Or so it is hoped.
